Description
One parchment leaf from a Gospel lectionary, dated to the thirteenth century. Parchment leaf is accompanied by a printed sheet of another leaf under the possession of H.R. Willoughby with shelfmark MS. 3 (Chicago, IL). The two leaves contain portions of Matthew 6:24–33; 9:1–6, 24–26.

Leaf (10 by 7 1/2 in.) from S. Matthew's Gospel, containing the Saturday and Sunday Gospel. Probably written about late XII Cent., imitating an older (XII Cent.) hand. Marginal notes in Arabic. Folio 1: single parchment leaf. Folio 2: a black and white, printed sheet of a leaf from the same Gospel lectionary in the possession of H.R. Willoughby (Chicago, IL, shelfmark “MS. 3”). Note in lower margin reads: "Verso of MS. 3 belonging to Prof. H.R. Willoughby, | University of Chicago, Illinois." || Further note in pencil on the inside of bottom margin: "By exchange, Sept. 1954." Text of f. 2 is work of a different scribe, not the same that composed material in f. 1: shape and angle of letters on f. 2 differ from those of f. 1; ekthesis and lection identifier follow distinct patterns as well.
