Quire Comments
Only a few quire signatures are extant in the top right corner of first recto on flesh side. First visible signature is ια. Quire structure difficult to determine because the manuscript was taken apart to be rebound. What follows is rather tentative.
1[-].1–6 (lac); 2[-].7–12 (lac); 3[ια].13–20; 4[-].21–28; 5[-].29–31 (lac); 6[-].32–37 (lac); 7[-].38-44 (SQ); 8[-].45 (lac); 9[-].46–53; 10[-].54-61; 11[-].62-69; 12[κ?].70-77; 13[-].78-83; 14[-].84-89; 15[κε].90-96; 16[κς].97-101(lac); 17[-].102-108(lac).
Exterior Condition
Modern binding and cover. Red leather on pasteboard. Binding is reinforced and protected with extra layer of red adhesive that wraps around both upper and lower board. Covers are decorated with rectangles--blind tooled and gilded. Corners of rectangles ornamented with blossoms. Only the four on the outer corners are visible on lower and upper board since the others are covered by the red adhesive reinforcing spine. Severe wear on corners of boards, especially lower outside corners.
Label identifying manuscript on left superior corner of upper board is partially visible. The rest is covered by red adhesive that reinforces spine.
Interior Condition
Manuscript has suffered water damage and has probably been in a fire. Several leaves have suffered abrasion; ink has sometimes faded to a great degree.
Folios 29, 32–34, 38, 45: missing parts of the leaf. Text has been lost.
Ink on certain folios has severely faded (62v, 63r, 66v, 67r, 70r, 71v, 72r).
Additional Codicological Comments
Labels on the spine identifying manuscript. At the head: "Greek NT Manuscript." Two labels at the tail, the more recent one place over the previous. Previous is only partially visible: "Vining manuscript." More recent: "Vining Mss. Gregory 2752."
Inside front cover written in pencil: "Vining manuscript Gregory 2752."
Folio count: iii + 108 + iii
First three leaves have been foliated in the outside bottom corner of rectos. The foliation continues in the inside upper corner of the text. The entire manuscript has also been paginated in the upper outside corner.
Manuscript has undergone conservation work. First two leaves, which are only fragments, have been mounted on parchment leaves. Leaves and quires were separated and sewn back together with a fresh set of stitching.
Rather wide margins (42mm outside; 45mm bottom; 31mm top; 22mm inside).
Folio 82 inserted upside down after restoration.
Weight: 0.8 kg / 1.75 lbs
